Guatemala Clinical Immersion: Global Health in San Raymundo

Program Overview
This immersive study abroad experience offers nursing students an opportunity to participate in global health practice in San Raymundo, Guatemala. Students will work alongside a mission orientated primary care and surgery team, providing primary care, preoperative, and postoperative care to patients in a rural clinical setting. The program also includes well-child examinations and pediatric health education in local schools, along with a tour of a regional hospital operated by the Guatemalan Ministry of Health. The trip concludes with cultural immersion in the historic city of Antigua. This experience integrates clinical practice, service learning, and cultural exploration, making it a valuable opportunity for students to enhance their professional and global competencies.

  • Global Health Clinical Immersion (course number TBD)
  • 1–2 clinical credits (depending on program enrollment)
  • Enrollment in BSN, RN-BSN, or graduate nursing program; good academic standing

 Approximately $2,700
Includes lodging, in-country meals, ground transportation, and support. Financial aid eligible for most nursing students.
