Norway Study Abroad: Exploring Diverse Learners and Education Systems

Program Overview: 

The Norway Study Abroad Program offers students an immersive two-week experience in the vibrant cities of Oslo and Bergen. This unique opportunity combines cultural exploration with academic enrichment, providing deep insights into Norway’s education system and society. 

 
During the program, students will: 

  • Explore Oslo’s Parliament and Norway House to understand the country’s political and cultural landscape
  • Visit the historic Bryggen waterfront in Bergen, a UNESCO World Heritage site
  • Experience the Vigeland Sculpture Park
  • Participate in sessions at a local folk school to learn about traditional Norwegian education methods
  • Engage in a comprehensive study of the Norwegian education system through panel discussions with educators and visits to schools
  • Enjoy a scenic boat tour of the Oslo Fjord
  • Tour the medieval Askershus Fortress
  • Experience extensive walking tours to fully immerse in the local culture and environment 

This program is designed to broaden students’ academic perspectives while fostering cultural understanding and personal growth. Participants will return with enhanced knowledge of international education systems and lasting memories of Norway’s unique heritage.

  • EDUC 302: Diverse Learners (3 credits, Spring Only)

  • Pre-requisite VUSM 100

  • Satisfies LDW (Mission Seminar requirement) for EDUC and Non-EDUC majors
