Week 1 Prompts: Foundations of Gratitude
- What’s one simple thing today that brought you peace, joy, or comfort?
- Name a space on campus where you feel most at ease or inspired—what makes it special?
- What part of your daily routine helps you feel grounded and present?
- What resource (book, technology, tool, or place) are you grateful for in your academic life?
- What’s one part of being at a small college that you appreciate more now than when you started?
- How has your environment (residence hall, office, classroom) contributed to your well-being this week?
- What is something small you did today that aligns with your personal values?
Friday Bonus Prompt: Check out the gratitude board located around campus.
Week 2 Journal Prompts: People and Connection
- Who on campus (professor, staff, student, etc.) has made you feel seen or welcomed recently?
- Think of someone who offers quiet support behind the scenes—how do they make a difference?
- Who consistently shows up with kindness or generosity, and what have you learned from them?
- Recall a time you received honest, respectful feedback—how did it help you grow?
- What does “hospitality” look like in your daily life here—and how have you received or offered it?
- Who models integrity in the way they lead, learn, or serve? What impact have they had on you?
- Write about someone you’ve worked or studied with who helped you succeed in a small but meaningful way.
Friday Bonus Challenge: Thanks a Viterbo employee or student for their hard work.
Week 3 Journal Prompts: Growth and Reflection
- What is a recent personal or academic challenge you’re grateful for—and why?
- How have you grown in your understanding of what it means to serve others?
- What habit, mindset, or belief have you outgrown—and what are you thankful for about that change?
- Think of a mistake you made that helped you become more self-aware or responsible.
- What personal strength have you relied on most this semester—and how has it served you?
- How do you practice stewardship over your time, energy, or responsibilities—and what are you learning from that?
- What’s one way you hope to carry a spirit of gratitude into the rest of the year?
Friday Bonus Challenge: Take a walk and reflect on what you are grateful for.
