About the Recreation Department
Mission
The mission of the Recreation Department is to provide recreational, health, and wellness opportunities to Viterbo University students and campus community. This is achieved by:
- Provide access to quality facilities, programs, and equipment.
- Offer activities which encourage healthy choices and personal satisfaction.
- Coordinate opportunities for cooperative and competitive play.
- Ensure an arena to practice leadership, management, program planning, and interpersonal skills.
Vision
The recreation department at Viterbo University is located in the Amie L. Mathy Center for Recreation and Education. Recreation offers a wide array of programs including Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, Special Events, Fitness Services, and Wellness Education.
Programs are offered to current students, employees and Mathy Center members.
In a unique partnership, intramural sports are also offered in conjunction with the Wellness Department at Western Technical College to promote sportsmanship and competitive team play between the schools. This partnership allows both schools the ability to increase team and individual participation rates as well as provide consistent, predictable programs for students.
