Founded by the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in 1890, Viterbo University is a Catholic, Franciscan, liberal arts university that prepares students for faithful service and ethical leadership.
Viterbo University is named after St. Rose of Viterbo, an important early follower of St. Francis of Assisi, and the Italian city of her birth. Today, Viterbo offers more than 40 academic programs at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctorate degree levels. The university is a key community partner in health care, the arts, and other fields, and has an excellent relationship with area employers and civic organizations. More than 40,000 people have visited campus to attend an event in the Fine Arts Center this past year. Other unique aspects of the university include the D.B. Reinhart Institute for Ethics in Leadership, the Sr. Thea Bowman Center, and the Center for Professional Learning.
Honoring its Franciscan founders, Viterbo embraces the five core values of contemplation, hospitality, integrity, stewardship, and service, each of which the members of the campus community strive to exemplify during the AFCU Symposium and always. On behalf of everyone at the university, welcome!
