LA CROSSE, Wis. – The second concert of the Out of Our Minds Chamber Series will feature the talents of Polish cellist Magdalena Sas with Viterbo pianist Mary Ellen Haupert, violinist Michelle Elliott, and violist Maritsa Rosamilia. Their program, “Hungarian Rhapsody,” will be performed at the Cappella Performing Arts and Events (721 King Street) at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24.
“Hungarian Rhapsody” will feature Zoltán Kodály’s Sonata for Cello and Piano, Op. 4, David Popper’s virtuosic Hungarian Rhapsody for Cello and Piano, and Johannes Brahms’ Piano Quartet in G Minor, Op. 23.
A prize winner of international competitions, Magdalena Sas performs across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, and has appeared in renowned concert halls such as Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna, BOZAR in Brussels, Witold Lutoslawski Studio in Warsaw, and NCPA in Mumbai. She has presented masterclasses and workshops across the globe in collaboration with numerous organizations including MusAid Organization, El Sistema, Global Leaders Program, International Cello Institute, Mehli Mehta Music Foundation and Antigua & Barbuda Youth Symphony Orchestras.
Sas is also the founder and director of the Third Coast Chamber Collective, a group focused on promoting the transformative power of chamber music through educational, collaborative and commissioning outreach projects.
The concert is free and open to the public. There will be a free will offering to cover artist fees and marketing expenses.
