“For as long as I can remember, I’ve known I wanted to work in health care, and not just in theory. I’ve been a CNA. I’ve assisted in dental offices. I’ve been the person holding a patient’s hand and offering comfort during tough moments. Those experiences inspired me to become a dentist. 

At Viterbo, I’m majoring in biochemistry and minoring in business administration, and I’m a proud first-generation college student. Every day, I remind myself what a privilege it is to be here and how far I’ve already come. My parents have always encouraged me to aim high and pursue my dreams, and that support motivates me to work hard and stay focused on my goals. 

One of the reasons I chose Viterbo was the atmosphere. It’s incredibly welcoming—people know your name, they care about your success, and they create space for you to grow. That sense of belonging helped me jump into campus life right away. I’m on the Honors Leadership Board, lead the honors retreat, and am involved in the pre-dental club, STEM club, TRIO, tutoring, intramurals, and more. I also work as a tour guide and orientation leader because I love helping others feel at home here, too. 

Viterbo’s values—especially service, contemplation, and hospitality—resonate deeply with me. I try to live those out by giving back, staying grounded in reflection, and creating a supportive environment for others. “Education with purpose” isn’t just a phrase here. It’s a way of life. I’m learning not just how to succeed in a career, but how to make a difference through it. 

La Crosse has also become one of my favorite places. I love spending time on Pearl Street—grabbing a coffee at Jules, browsing the bookstore, and soaking in the atmosphere. Jules is my go-to study spot on the weekends. 

If I had advice for new students, it would be this: get involved. It may feel intimidating at first, but saying yes to opportunities is how you build friendships, grow confidence, and create a college experience you’ll always remember.
