Course Work Load

As you consider how many courses to take over the summer, remember that these are compressed courses, which will require more time than the average 8- or 16-week course.  The table below helps students identify approximately how many hours per week they can expect to dedicate to a course based on the number of credits in the course and how long the course is. For example, a 3-credit course that is 7 weeks long will take 19.3 hours of work per week for 7 weeks.

Summer Campus Residence:

Undergraduate students enrolled in face–to-face or online summer courses can stay on campus in a shared room or purchased single room within a shared apartment. This low-cost housing option allows students the flexibility to reserve a room in weekly increments while their courses are in session and beyond. Students interested in summer housing options must complete the summer housing application by May 1, 2026.  During the summer, Dining Services is not open, but each apartment has a full kitchen and a full-sized refrigerator, which allows students to prepare their own meals.

Each apartment unit has two bedrooms, a living/dining area, a private bathroom, air-conditioning, and a kitchen with a sink, stove, and refrigerator. The apartment unit has a dining room table set, couch, chairs, dressers, desks, and bunk beds. Each apartment unit has Internet access with laundry facilities in the basement of the building. The specific apartment building used is determined closer to the end of the Spring semester based on occupancy and rental needs.
