Gain a greater understanding of healthcare in culturally diverse populations through the direct delivery of healthcare services to under-served populations with limited resources in Belize.
Thailand, Dates TBD, VUSM 205
Travel to multiple cities in northern Thailand; visit diverse temples, markets, factories, and much more. The course and travel will focus on Hmong history and culture in La Crosse and Thailand. Study the components of the Mediterranean diet and how this diet is able to reduce the risk of chronic diseases. We will also study sports nutrition and how it can be applied to the Mediterranean diet. On campus lectures will occur during one night a week during the 2nd half of the spring semester.
