Viterbo University Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Marlene De La Cruz-Guzmán has been named a Leadership Academy/La Academia de Liderazgo fellow by the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU).

Auditions for the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) production of "Hansel and Gretel" will be held from 4–6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12 in the Weber Center for the Performing Arts Lyche Theatre.

"Leave the Light On," an exhibit of paintings by Viterbo faculty member and alumna Kira Peters, will open with a reception from 5–7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7 in the Viterbo University Gallery.

Author, actor, comedian, viral sensation, and activist Tyler Merritt will present “Themes from I Take My Coffee Black” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7 in the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre. The event will also be streamed on Facebook Live.

Viterbo University has announced its newest undergraduate degree program—a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders and Sciences that will prepare students for graduate school and future careers in speech language pathology and audiology. It will begin in the fall of 2023.

Viterbo University’s newest choral ensemble, Viterbo Choral Arts, will hold its first rehearsal on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at the Cappella Performing Arts Center in downtown La Crosse. Fifty community singers have signed up for the group so far and just 15 spots remain.

The Viterbo University Center for Professional Learning is partnering with the La Crosse Community Foundation to offer a Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership Development. This program has been designed to provide participants with a better understanding of how nonprofits function and the issues they face in today’s complex environment.

Registration is now open for a Viterbo University online certificate course in servant leadership to be held Sept. 13­–Nov. 1.

Viterbo University’s Conservatory for the Performing Arts will present the beloved one-act opera "Amahl and the Night Visitors" on Dec. 9–10 at the Cappella Performing Arts Center in downtown La Crosse. Live auditions for the role of Amahl will be held in mid-September.

Gerald Baldner, Mike Gostomski, Sr. Antona Schedlo, and Don and Roxanne Weber, all of whom have a long history of serving others and giving back to their communities, will be presented with the Viterbo University Saint John XXIII Award for Distinguished Service at a banquet and ceremony in the Fine Arts Center Tuesday, Sept. 20.
