Gary Tyler will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16 in Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre. Tyler was wrongly convicted of first-degree murder at the age of 17 and spent 41 years in Louisiana State Penitentiary, better known as Angola. This event is free and open to the public. It is being held at Viterbo in recognition of Constitution Day.
Samantha Pauly, who graduated from Viterbo in 2012 with a BFA in music theatre, performs on “The Tonight Show” on Thursday, Sept. 16, with her castmates from “Six,” a musical that resumes performances on Broadway on Friday. Pauly plays Katherine Howard in “Six,” which brings to life the stories of the six wives of Henry VIII in the form of a pop concert.
The Viterbo University Athletics Department will host its 30th Annual Wall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 18 at the Weber Center in downtown La Crosse. The event will begin at 3 p.m. with a social hour and refreshments followed by the ceremony at 4 p.m.
Faculty and academic advisors are invited to join the webinar Academic Advising for Social Justice: Theory, Reflection, and Practice on Thursday, Sept. 16 from 12:30–1:50 p.m. in Reinhart Center 134. Presenters will challenge participants to engage in critical reflection about themselves and the profession to better understand how we can hear our students lived experiences and work towards being the best possible allies for them. A Student Wellbeing Session will be held on Thursday, Sept. 16 from 6–6:30 p.m. in the Assisi Courtyard Tent (rain location FAC Hospitality Suite). Join for a brief introductory session on general wellbeing and gain some helpful information for day-to-day living. Information on the Viterbo wellbeing model will be shared along with an engaging activity facilitated by Deb Murray. Registration is not required.
Angela Mensink’s dissertation defense will take place on Friday, Sept. 17 from 1 p.m.–2:30 p.m. in Murphy Center 346. The project is entitled, Training for Clinical Site Supervisors and Examining Self-Efficacy. The public is welcome to attend.
