Vision
The Advising and Career Development team supports students and alumni in the development of values-based academic and career paths that leverage their gifts, talents, and goals.
Mission
The Advising and Career Development team serves, leads, and collaborates with the Viterbo and global communities to empower students and alumni through sound academic and career advising. We are committed to honoring unique identities, encouraging self-discovery, and helping individuals gain valuable experience to develop as professionals and launch their post-Viterbo plans.
What is Academic and Career Advising?
Academic and career advising is a decision-making process through which students, aided by advisors, realize the maximum educational benefits available to them by better understanding themselves and learning how to use the resources of the university to meet their own unique needs and career aspirations, both personally and academically.
Viterbo University uses a dual advising model in which all students are assigned to work and build relationships with a professional academic advisor and a faculty advisor in their academic discipline. The goal of all advising is to assist students in taking responsibility for developing meaningful educational plans that are reflective of their potential and their career and life goals. Advisors confer with and guide students about course schedules and educational experiences, but students themselves are responsible for selecting the content of their academic program and making progress toward an academic degree.
Why Do We Advise?
We empower and support each individual student so they can confidently achieve their unique goals and progress toward graduation.
