VITERBO UNIVERSITY OUT OF OUR MINDS CHAMBER MUSIC 2025–2026 SEASON BEGINS SEPT. 13

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The longest-running chamber music series in the La Crosse area will return at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 as the 2025–26 Viterbo University Out of Our Mind Chamber Music series begins with piano quartets by composer friends Antonin Dvořák and Johannes Brahms in the Fine Arts Center Nola Starling Recital Hall.

Piano Quartet No. 1 in D Major, Op. 23 by Dvořák and Piano Quartet No. 3 in C Minor, Op. 60 by his mentor Brahms will be performed by violinist Michelle Elliott, violist Busya Lugovier, cellist Derek Clark, and pianist and Viterbo music professor Mary Ellen Haupert.

The creation of Haupert, the Out of Our Minds Chamber Music series features talented musician-friends who are equally dedicated to the art of chamber music. Other performers this season include the Druzhba Trio, Polish cellist Magdelena Sas, Bulgarian violist and composer Maritsa Rosamilia, clarinetist Michael Chesher, hornist Thomas Hunt, the Artaria String Quartet, sopranos Theodora Nestorova and Elizabeth Pearse, and cellist Alexander Fowler.

Throughout the season, audience members can look forward to a wide range of repertoire from well-worn chamber music masterpieces, under-represented gems, and fresh new works. Audiences will be treated to works by Hungarian composers Friday, Oct. 24, a concert featuring the music of Henri Górecki and Grażyna Bacewicz Sunday, Nov. 23, a two-concert series celebrating the 40th anniversary of Artaria String Quartet Sunday, Feb. 1 and Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, and a season finale dedicated to the music of Indian classical composer Reena Esmail Sunday, April 12, 2026.

All concerts are free and open to the public, and all but one performance will be in Viterbo University’s Nola Starling Recital Hall. The Oct. 24 concert will be held at the Cappella Performing Arts Center at 117 King Street in La Crosse.
