STAR OF MUSIC, STAGE, AND SCREEN BERNADETTE PETERS TO PERFORM AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY SEPT. 6
LA CROSSE, Wis. – Critically-acclaimed star of stage and screen Bernadette Peters will perform an evening of songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, Jerry Herman, and other music legends at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 in the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.
Winner of three Tony Awards and a Golden Globe, Peters has dazzled audiences and critics alike throughout her illustrious career. She has also been nominated for four Emmy Awards and four Grammy Awards and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Perhaps best known as one of Broadway’s most critically acclaimed performers, Peters recently concluded a highly successful West End debut in the Cameron Mackintosh production of Old Friends, celebrating the life and work of Stephen Sondheim. She has also starred on Broadway in a long list of iconic productions, including Hello, Dolly!, Follies, A Little Night Music, Song and Dance, Annie Get Your Gun, Gypsy, The Goodbye Girl, Sunday in the Park with George, Mack and Mabel, On The Town, and Into the Woods.
Peters also has an impressive list of television credits, most recently the Apple TV+ series, High Desert, and NBC-TV’s Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. She also appeared on Smash, Grey’s Anatomy, Ugly Betty and Ally McBeal, and the Lifetime TV movie Living Proof. On the silver screen, she has appeared in more than 30 films, including Pennies From Heaven, The Jerk, The Longest Yard, Silent Movie, Annie, Pink Cadillac, Slaves of New York, Alice, Impromptu, It Runs in the Family, Coming Up Roses, and The Broken Hearts Gallery.
In music, Peters has recorded six solo albums, including I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight, Sondheim, Etc.: Bernadette Peters Live at Carnegie Hall, Bernadette Peters Loves Rodgers & Hammerstein, and additional original Broadway cast recordings.
Peters is also New York Times best-selling author of three children’s books: Broadway Barks, Stella is a Star, and Stella and Charlie: Friends Forever. All of her proceeds from the sale of these books benefit Broadway Barks, an annual dog and cat adoption event that benefits shelter animals in the New York City and tri-state area.
