While working in the private sector in 2019, Kyle Trietley had a powerful experience on Viterbo campus ministry’s annual Magnify retreat that would change his life and career path.

“That’s when I decided to explore ministry and give my life to God,” said Trietley, who earned a bachelor’s degree in strategic communications and digital media from St. Bonaventure University.

Trietley now works as a graduate assistant for Viterbo campus ministry as he earns a Master of Arts in Servant Leadership degree. It’s a position he has held since August 2024.

“It’s been an amazing experience working with the students and serving others,” he said. “The people here really look out for each other and want the best for others. Viterbo feels like a family.”

Trietley’s duties include planning, cooking, and cleaning for the approximately 180 people attending the weekly Table of Plenty and Morning Mugs events, working with the La Crosse Hunger Task Force to make sure Viterbo’s food pantries remain fully stocked, working with V-Hawk team chaplains to maximize the effectiveness of the program, and maintaining a “ministry of presence” to be there for students. He also planned this month’s spring break service immersion trip to Casa Hogar in Peru.

“It was an incredible experience,” Trietley said of the Peru service trip and spending invaluable time with Casa Hogar’s 64 child residents. He is pictured at the Basilica and Convent of Santo Domingo in Lima.

Outside of work and school, Trietley enjoys making music, hiking, movies, working out, and spending time with family and friends.

Trietley is considering different career options after finishing his degree in May. A three-month or year-long volunteer experience at Casa Hogar are possibilities. Long-term, he said a career in sales or fundraising would be a good fit.

“I would like to work on a person-to-person basis helping people solve their needs for an organization with a mission that aligns with my values,” he said.
