Use this page to monitor Viterbo System's availability and outage notifications.  Microsoft patches are applied to systems monthly starting after the 2nd Tuesday of the month and continuing through that following Sunday.  Typically, end user's won't notice an outage.  However, if you experience issues on Sunday between 6am-2pm it is likely related to monthly Microsoft patches.

30 minutes IIT requires a network outage on Monday, Oct 13th, 10pm-10:30pm.  This outage is required to patch a critical network vulnerability.  On-Campus user's will not be able to access the internet during this outage (O365, Moodle, Streaming services, etc).  Off-Campus users will not be able to access Etrieve Forms, Colleague, Reporting services, or VPN during this outage.

Unknown Moodle has been slow to respond to clicks/access.  This has interrupted some instructor's ability to conduct Moodle quizzes/exams. MoodleUS, our hosting provider, is aware of the issues and plans to give our system more resources this evening.  This may result in an full outage window. MoodleUS also continues to research the root cause of these sporadic resource spikes for a permanent resolution.

  Moodle Sporadic Db Errors 8/22/25 Unknown We have received reports from users that Moodle sporadically displays a Db connection error.  The system seems to respond after multiple refreshes.  We have opened trouble tickets with our Cloud provider and will continue to monitor for resolution.

TV Service Outage – Viterbo Area

TV services in the Viterbo region are currently unavailable due to severe weather and a related electrical disruption. The outage is impacting Spectrum infrastructure, and restoration efforts are underway.

7/2/2025 - 1:30pm - MoodleUS has confirmed that they will be restoring a copy of our Moodle instance to another system.  The copy will be from 6/30/2025 early AM.  After this is complete IIT will work at restoring courses from the BIOL category. This work will likely be started on 7/2/2025. 

7/7/2025 - BIOL courses are back on Moodle production.

Update on Moodle Sync Issue – June 18, 2025

As of June 18, 2025, MoodleUS is still actively working to resolve the ongoing sync issue. In the meantime, IIT has manually pushed updates for all users who were enrolled or added up until 3:30 PM on June 18. This action should have resolved the issue for all current users.

  Moodle Sync Down 6/9/2025 Unknown Notice: The automated process responsible for updating new user enrollments and course Drops/Adds is currently experiencing an outage. As a result, any recent changes—such as newly enrolled users or updates to course rosters—are not being reflected in Moodle.
