Major: Nursing

Hometown: Preston, Minnesota

Year: Senior

"I chose to pursue a career in nursing because I want to care for people during the most difficult and vulnerable times in their lives.

At Viterbo I serve as treasurer of the Student Nurses Association, vice president of the Health and Wellbeing Club, and as an orientation officer. These roles have helped me grow as a leader while connecting with other students.

I chose Viterbo because I felt at home the moment I visited. The small campus and direct admission to nursing mattered, but it was the people who made the difference. Professors here take time to get to know their students and offer support in ways you would not find at a larger school. One professor who has made a lasting impact on me is Julie Meyers, who has encouraged me at every step of my journey.

My favorite Viterbo experiences include Courtyard Carni, the President’s Dinner, and a study abroad course in Costa Rica. I have also loved serving the La Crosse community through Service Saturdays, especially volunteering with Grow La Crosse.

Looking ahead, I hope to begin my career as a nurse at Mayo Clinic and later become a clinical nurse specialist or nurse practitioner. My advice for new students is simple: try new things, step outside your comfort zone, and you will find people and opportunities that make Viterbo feel like home.”
