Frequently Asked Questions

Who can participate?
Any rising 10th, 11th, or 12th grader who is interested in learning more about Catholic Social Teaching, St. Francis of Assisi, and actively serving their community! Our program has opportunities to learn, to meet people served by Catholic Charities, to talk to those who have devoted their lives to service, and to reflect on how you will integrate service into your life as a person of faith.

Do I have to be Catholic?
While we will use Catholic Social Teaching as a grounding for service and action on behalf of others, there is no requirement to be Catholic in order to attend.

Can I contact my parents while I'm at CORE?
Of course. While we hope to limit access to phones during our major activities and learning experiences, we will have times available when contact will not only be possible but encouraged!

Are there scholarship funds available to assist with the cost?
We have some donors who have agreed to assist those who show financial need. Contact us for more information.

Does my parish have to supply chaperones?
Franciscan CORE has a trained staff of college mentors who will take care of supervising participants throughout the week. Every mentor is required to complete a background check and Safe Environment training.
