Arts Education Opportunities

The Viterbo Fine Arts Center offers arts education opportunities for all ages.

Arts for Young America School Series

Each season, we present approximately 25 matinees for area school children.  Schools from up to 75 miles away travel to Viterbo for these shows. Last season, over 20,000 students grades K-12 attended matinees here in the Fine Arts Center. Professional touring companies as well as Viterbo theatre and music theatre students fill the stage with drama and song; the performances have strong curricular ties to areas such as language arts, history, music, relationship building, and multicultural awareness.

Camps, Workshops, Choirs, and Missoula Children's Theatre

Each summer, we hold numerous camps and workshops for both young and old in the areas of art, music, drama, and movement. We also are the home of Viterbo 101, an area show choir competition. Missoula Children's Theatre also visits every year, staging a production of a well-loved children's classic starring area youth.

Arts in Context

For many of our performances, someone intimately tied to the performance -- typically an actor, musician, or director affiliated with the company --  leads a discussion for our patrons. These discussions are a wonderful opportunity for patrons to learn more about our first-class performances.

Master Classes and Residencies

Many of the professional artists who visit the Fine Arts Center lead master classes and workshops both with our Viterbo students, as well as groups in the community such as schools and dance studios. The expertise these professional artists share further enhance these students' experiences and abilities in music, drama, and dance .
