1–2 p.m. How to Negotiate Your Salary: Shrinking the Gender Pay Gap – Brophy 124 – Women who work full time in the US are still paid 83 cents for every dollar a man makes (AAUW.ORG). The pay gap impacts the amount of savings women have for a rainy day and their income in retirement. The differences are compounded by race with Hispanic or Latinx women earning 53% of men and Black women eanring 61%. The reasons are complex, but a few interventions could help including pay transparency, gender blind application screening, not requesting previous salaries and pay ranges posted on position announcements. The more women know the more power they have to negotiate. Join CBLE Dean, Tonya Wagner for a round table discussion.

Notices:

The Viterbo V-Hawks for a Cause Polar Plunge sponsored by the Education Club team raised over $7,000 for Special Olympics Wisconsin. Current students, faculty, and alumni plunged into the waters at Black River Beach on Saturday to celebrate the accomplishment.  They are looking to build off of the momentum from this year and be the number one team in next year's plunge. Contact Josh Lichty at jjlichty@viterbo.edu if you want to be on the email list next spring to join the team and plunge or stay dry on the side. Check out photos from this year’s event on Flickr.

IIT accepts work-tickets from employees and students, via an online system called Revelation Help Desk. This allows the end-user to submit ticket(s) for technology related issues (i.e. classroom problems, internet connectivity concerns, hardware/software glitches, form access questions, etc). It also contains a self-help knowledge base filled with common questions/answers, to allow the end-user to troubleshoot on their own (i.e. cell phone email setup, password questions, WiFi help, etc). Link: www.viterbo.edu/helpdesk. Take a moment to check it out and bookmark the page for quick access.

Employees: A graduate student is conducting research to determine the impact of remote/flexible work opportunities on employee engagement and retention in higher education. This short, anonymous survey should take no longer than 5–7 minutes to complete. Your participation is appreciated. The survey can be taken at: https://viterbo.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9XfFn2OxRJcCt02.
