National Football League Hall of Fame member and pastor Aeneas Williams will present “It Takes Respect” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24 in the Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.

“It Takes Respect” is is part of the D.B. Reinhart Institute for Ethics in Leadership’s spring lecture series and is the keynote address of “The Art of Peace" Humanities Symposium. Rev. Williams was instrumental in promoting peace in Ferguson, Mo., between police and rioters in the wake of the shooting death of Michael Brown.

During an outstanding 14-year career with the Arizona Cardinals and St. Louis Rams that included a Super Bowl victory, eight Pro Bowls, and four All-Pro selections, Williams had the chance to help some of his teammates through life’s rougher patches. These opportunities led Aeneas to the realization that unhappiness doesn’t come from the things in life, but rather from the things that are missing.

Williams retired from football in 2004 and was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 2014. Today he spreads his message through speaking engagements across the country. He is a beloved St. Louis community leader and role model whose tireless service, outreach, and personal counsel has improved many lives. In 2007, Williams and his wife of 23 years, Tracy, founded The Spirit Church in St. Louis, where he serves as senior pastor.
