2015 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete Teams

LA CROSSE, Wis. - Jacob Engel (SR/Ithaca, Wis.) of the men's track and field team at Viterbo University has been named a 2015 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete. This is the first time Engel has earned this distinction for track and field and the third time a member of the men's track and field team has been honored with this award in four years.

In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status.

Engel, a music education major, wrapped up his Viterbo track and field career in impressive fashion. In his senior season, Engel set new individual team records in men's shot put, discus, and hammer throw.  Additionally Engel was named Midwest Collegiate Conference Field Athlete of the Week for the week of March 2, 2015.
