Franciscan Lecture with Sr. Margaret Carney

Join the VUSM 100 students as they welcome preeminent Franciscan scholar, Sr. Margaret Carney.  Sr. Margaret is a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities and teacher of Franciscan history and spirituality.  A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Sr. Margaret holds a bachelor’s degree from Duquesne University, and a masters from St. Bonaventure University.  She was also the first woman to receive a doctoral degree from the Franciscan University in Rome.  Sr. Margaret has taught at the Franciscan Institute of Asia, at the Anotianum in Rome, and in Canada, Italy, England, Ireland, and Japan. In 1999 She became the director of the Franciscan Institute and in 2004, the President of St. Bonaventure University.  Sr. Margaret is an outstanding researcher and scholar, and we are incredibly fortunate to bring her to campus.
