Jill Miller was a big fan of the D.B. Reinhart Institute for Ethics in Leadership lecture series years before coming to work at Viterbo University.

“My husband and I would organize our schedules around it,” she said. “The events were our date nights. We still think it’s the best deal in town—renowned guests and speakers at no cost. It’s unheard of.”

Today, Miller supports the efforts of the Ethics Institute to promote the common good as its program coordinator, a position she has held since December 2019.

“I have a passion for connecting people and ideas and being a catalyst for change,” said Miller, who earned an associate degree in interior design from Kirkwood College and a bachelor’s degree in nonprofit leadership from Iowa State University. “My work has been rewarding and awesome.”

Miller’s job includes supporting the day-to-day operations of the Ethics Institute and helping to plan events and programs “from the vision to the execution and all steps in between.” She also leads the institute’s student fellowship program.

Presentations by Holocaust survivor speakers and author, activist, and viral sensation Tyler Merritt have been Miller’s favorite events she has helped bring to fruition during her time at Viterbo.

“The enthusiasm Tyler generated in the students was incredible,” she said.

Outside of Viterbo, Miller enjoys spending time with her five-month-old grandson and listening to music, especially live performances. She also likes decorating her home and coffee and prayer time each morning, which she calls “the two best things in the world.”

Miller has completed all the classes necessary to earn a Master of Arts in Servant Leadership degree from Viterbo, and just her final thesis and colloquium remains. She applies her extensive nonprofit experience and education in expanding the reach and programs of the Ethics Institute.

“I will continue to seek opportunities with different departments and partners to do as much joint programming as possible,” she said.
