Food for Fines

Students: Have you ever forgotten to bring back that library book after finals? Did you unearth an overdue DVD the last time you cleaned off your desk? Are you staring at an invoice that’s more than what you spend on groceries per month? Don’t panic! There’s more ways to pay your library fines than cash or check! As long as you return your overdue items, the only thing you have to worry about are those pesky processing fees. Now you can donate 3 non-expired and non-perishable food items or one adult sized winter clothing item in good condition and have it count as $10 worth of processing fees. Have to pay off $30 in fees? Just search your closet for that sweater you keep telling yourself you’re going to wear some day and drop off 6 bags of Ramen to the library Main Desk and we’ll waive your fees. Food donations stock the food pantry on Murphy’s third floor and clothing items help to stock the Sweater Closet in the Diversity Center in Murphy 579. Of course donations are welcome any time at the library’s Main Desk, whether you have fines to pay or not.
