AN EVENING WITH FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY FEB. 16

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Award-winning actor, author, filmmaker, and Doctor of Nursing Practice Candy Campbell will present An Evening with Florence Nightingale at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16 in the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.

Described as “a voice from the past with a contemporary message,” Campbell’s portrayal of the nursing icon and champion of women’s rights is based on Nightingale’s own writings. Campbell bases this historical reenactment on the question, “What would Florence Nightingale say about the world today, and what advice would she give?” Audience members will be inspired to ask themselves how they can make a difference as Campbell shares a first-person account of Nightingale’s calling to be a nurse, her struggles to succeed, and her ultimate triumph in the profession. A question-and-answer session with the audience will also be part of the performance.

“Campbell uses voices, humor, music, and full stage movement to provide a truly captivating and authentic performance as she makes connections between Nightingale’s time and our current health care system,” wrote a reviewer.

Campbell will be available for additional questions at a book signing and sale after the performance.

The event is free and open to the public. It is presented by Performance Management International, LLC in partnership with Viterbo University’s student engagement and military student success departments.
