Intramural Golf Scramble Playing Rules
Scramble:
1. Teams of four will hit from their respective tees (men from blue, women from red) to begin each hole. The team will then choose the best shot of the two and from there will both hit their second shot. This will be done until the hole is completed, and a single team score is reported.
2. The maximum score for each hole will be 10.
3. The minimum number of tee shots for each player will be 5?
4. The holing of any shot constitutes the end of the hole and the points for the team become final. The team score will be tabulated by intramural staff at the end of 9-holes.
Ball Placement:
a) Fairway: The ball may be placed one club length form the spot of the selected ball but not if it is nearer to the hole. When place, the ball must remain in the fairway.
b) Rough: The ball may be placed one club length form the spot of the selected ball, but not if it is nearer to the hole. The placement of the ball may improve the team’s stance, swing, and line of flight but must not be placed outside of a club’s length from the ball’s resting spot. The newly placed ball must remain in the same cut of rough the original ball landed in.
c) Hazard: The ball may be placed one club length form the spot of the selected ball, but not if it is nearer to the hole. The placement of the ball may improve the team’s stance, swing, and line of flight but must not be placed outside of a club’s length from the ball’s resting spot. The ball must remain in the same hazard that it landed in. If the ball lands in a sand trap, it may be raked before placement of the ball.
d) Greens: Balls that land on the green may be placed one putter-head length from the original landing spot, but no closer to the hole.
Scoring:
a) Maximum score for each hole will be 10 – if the team exceeds this number of strokes, please pick up your golf balls and move on to the next hole. Write down one team score for every hole. Sign score card at the end of 18 holes and turn it into the Tournament Administrator to calculate the final score.
In the event of a tie, a hole’s number will be drawn at random and the team recording the lowest score for said hole will be declared the winner. This process will be repeated until the tie is broken.
