VIVER BRASIL TO PERFORM AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY APRIL 19

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Experience exhilarating Afro-Brazilian traditional and contemporary movement, stunning costumes, and pulsating percussion and voice as Viver Brasil takes audiences for an inspiring cultural journey through Brazil when they perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19 in the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.

Founded in 1997, Viver Brasil is a dance company firmly rooted in the traditional and contemporary music and dance forms and techniques of Brazil. The company specializes in bringing to life the African sacred energies that fuel Afro-Brazilian culture, in addition to presenting jubilant samba, contemporary Afro-Brazilian dance and carnival.

Viver Brasil has performed throughout the U.S. They are also committed to increasing awareness of the rich history of Afro-Brazilian dance, music, and culture through a variety of performances, workshops, and professional development opportunities in elementary schools, high schools, and colleges and universities.

This performance is part of Viterbo’s Bright Star Season and is co-sponsored by Soft Rock 101.1 FM, Firefighter’s Credit Union, and by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board, with funds from the State of Wisconsin.
