THE MUSICAL THE COLOR PURPLE AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY FEB. 9

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Alice Walker and the film by Steven Spielberg, the inspiring new musical The Color Purple comes to the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9.

The Color Purple is a family saga and an unforgettable story of a woman who, through love, finds the strength to triumph over adversity and discover her unique place in the world. It is a tale of hope, a testament to the healing power of love, and a celebration of life. The Color Purple is set to a beautiful score featuring jazz, ragtime, gospel, and blues.

This production was adapted for the stage by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Marsha Norman, with music and lyrics by Grammy Award winners Brenda Russell, Allee Willis, and Stephen Bray. It is part of Viterbo’s Bright Star Season.

This performance is co-sponsored by U.S. Bank and Wisconsin Public Radio and by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board, with funds from the State of Wisconsin.

Tickets are $35 for upper balcony seating. For more information, contact the Viterbo box office at 608-796-3100 or visit www.viterbo.edu/fac.
