Confidentiality
  • Successful counseling depends upon a trusting relationship between the student and counselor. The counseling department is committed to ensuring that information resulting from counseling contacts is held in confidence. All information is considered privileged and confidential.
  • Counseling staff is committed to upholding the professional standards and code of ethics of the American Counseling Association and Wisconsin state statutes.
  • No information is released without your permission. The only exceptions are in the unlikely event that there is a clear and imminent danger to an individual or society, child abuse, elderly abuse, or the information is subpoenaed in legal proceedings. Such occasions are very rare.
  • Because of the non-secure nature of email, we ask that students not use email communication for sensitive and personal information. The counselor does not access or maintain email contact outside of business hours.

If you have any questions about confidentiality, please feel free to contact our office or talk to one of our staff.
