Admission to the Art Department

Admission to the art department includes a portfolio review. Prospective students are asked to bring examples of their work, at which time they will be given a tour of the department and meet with one or more members of the art faculty. Students whose prior experiences in art are limited may be admitted to the department on a provisional basis if they indicate serious interest. Portfolio reviews should be arranged prior to May 1 for admission for the following academic year.

Note that your admission to the Art Department is contingent upon your admission to Viterbo University. If you are unsure of your application status, please contact the admissions at 608-796-3010 or admission@viterbo.edu

Art Scholarships
Renewable academic merit scholarships of up to $14,000 are awarded based on GPA and ACT/SAT scores. The Art Department awards renewable talent scholarships to incoming art majors on the basis of portfolio reviews. These scholarships are in addition to other academic awards and financial aid that you may maybe eligible to receive. Prospective students who do reviews by March 1 are given priority scholarship consideration. Those who do reviews after March 1 may be eligible to receive scholarships that have not yet been awarded.

Portfolio Review Information
We would like to see representative examples of your recent artwork. Typically we ask to see 8–12 pieces of your best work in any medium (although the number of works may vary depending on your medium). If possible, include several examples of work you have made outside of class assignments. We ask that you also provide us with a digital CD of your work.
