Google Apps 1 for Teaching and Learning: Communicate and Organize!

Learn how to harness powerful and free Google Apps tools: Gmail, Chat/Hangouts, Contacts, Groups, Voice & Calendar.  This will be a hands-on course where you will learn how to use these tools to improve communication & organization in your teaching/job.  No previous experience with Google Apps required.  This is intended as a beginner course; however, intermediate users will learn many new tips and tricks with these applications.  Limited to 16 students.  Students are required to bring either a laptop or Chromebook to class.

Google Apps 2 for Teaching and Learning: Collaborate and Teach!

Type: Face-to-Face

More Google Apps: Drive/Docs and Mays/Earth.  You will have the freedom to investigate additional tools i.e. Sites, Picasa, YouTube, News, Advanced Search Tools/Custom Search, Blogger, Sketchup, Trends. This will be a hands-on course where you will learn how to use these tools to improve collaboration as well as how to use with students.  You must have either taken Google Apps for Teaching & Learning: Communicate & Organize or be proficient in the core Google Apps.  Limited to 16 students.  Students are required to bring either a laptop or Chromebook to class.

Google Apps 3 for Teaching and Learning: Connect and Extend (NEW!)
Instructor: Renee Deschard
Credits: 1      
Type: Face-to-Face

Extend Google Apps past the four classroom walls. Participants will create a website using either Google Sites or Blogger, learn how to use YouTube effectively, explore Google Plus/Communities, investigate additional Google tools such as Picasa, Cultural Arts Institute, News, Advanced Search Tools, Custom Search, and create a Unit Plan incorporating Google Apps into your job.  You must have either taken either Google Apps 1 or 2 or be proficient in the core Google Apps. Limited to 16 students.  Students are required to bring either a laptop or Chromebook to class (a tablet is not sufficient).

Technology Integration Using Any Device  (NEW!)

A model technology classroom begins with making the student experience completely interactive and immersive.  This course will introduce teachers to apps that can be used with students that will allow them to be a part of the learning experience.  Teachers will learn to use apps that will allow students to demonstrate learning though projects, discussion boards, and book creation.

Technology Integration Using iPads-Level I  (NEW!)

iPad issues are typically very easy to fix, but do you know what to do when iPads in your classroom are not working as you would like?  In this course, you will explore everything that you need to know to use your iPads more efficiently.  You will learn troubleshooting, how to show your iPad on your projector screen, how to search for apps to use in your classroom and resources to locate even more great apps!

Technology Integration Using iPads-Level 2  (NEW!)

You know how your iPad works.  You can download an app.  Your students use it to play learning games.  What’s next?  Use your iPads to CREATE!  You will learn everything you need to use your iPad the same way you would use your laptop.  You will develop iPad focused lessons and strategies that can be applied immediately in the classroom.  Bring an iPad for this hands-on experience.

Teach With Technology Using Any Device

Bring any device that you use with students (iPad, Chromebook, etc). We will explore the SAMR model of technology integration (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, Redefinition), evaluate and share apps, and create lesson plans effectively using technology. It is expected that you know the basic functions of the device that you are bringing. Teachers are required to bring a laptop or Chromebook to class, or the device that they use with students (if different).
