“One in Four” RV Tour Makes Stop on Campus
The national all-male sexual assault peer education group “One in Four” made an April visit to campus to present “How to Help a Sexual Assault Survivor: What Men Can Do.”
“One in Four” derived its name from the fact that one in four college women have experienced rape or an attempted rape since their 14th birthday. The group, which features four graduates of William and Mary, focuses on treating men as potential helpers, not potential rapists. The program teaches men how they can make a difference by helping women recover from sexual assault.
“We were very excited to bring the ‘One in Four’ Tour to campus during sexual assault awareness month,” said Erica McIntee, president of the campus organization Students Against Sexual Assault. “Education is a huge key to preventing sexual assault.”
