One Hundred Fifty Years of Religion in La Crosse
Where did the early pioneers worship when they first arrived in La Crosse? How has this religious influence evolved through the years?
Msgr. Bernard McGarty, Viterbo visiting scholar in ecumenical studies, author Susan T. Hessel, and former La Crosse Tribune reporter Gayda Hollnagel explored these questions and more as the trio presented “150 Years of Religion in La Crosse” in April.
The presentation chronicled the development of religion in La Crosse throughout the city’s history, and audience members received unique insight into the effect of religion on La Crosse culture, architecture, and history.
