Alumna Tells of Struggle with Mental Illness

Dianne Marie (Schiltz) Lotter ’63, author of  The Why of Me, Publish America, Baltimore, 2006, held a book signing at the Fireside Bookstore in West Bend in May.

The Why of Me is a wrenching account of the author’s lifelong battle with mental illness and alcohol addiction. Narrated in a gentle tone, the book details years of depression, suicide attempts, and treatment in various mental hospitals.
