Employees Honored at the Rose Awards

Viterbo employees honored at the Rose Awards ceremony were:

  • Dick Ruppel, English, received the Alec Chiu Award, which is presented for exceptional work at Viterbo to foster and develop scholarly opportunities for both students and faculty. The late Alec Chiu was a faculty emeritus at Viterbo.
  • Deb Randall Anderson, School of Adult Learning, was presented with the Outstanding Academic Advisor Award for her work with students.
  • Todd Ondell, business, was the recipient of the President’s Award for outstanding service to Viterbo and the community.
  • The groundskeepers, Boua Xiong, Lue Moua, and Dave Nichols, were presented with the Pax et Bonum Award. The award is given in recognition of demonstrating the Franciscan values of service, respect, hospitality, stewardship, and joy throughout the Viterbo community.

Employees cited for outstanding servant leadership were Scott Johns, admission; Dennis Kolb, physical plant; Bill Reese, religious studies; Michael Smuksta, history; and student Cassie Gray.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, former president Bill Medland was presented with a framed papal blessing from Pope Benedict XVI commemorating his outstanding service to Viterbo during the past 15 years.
