Ceremony: Part of the School of Nursing Tradition
We stand on ceremony
Since we take nursing seriously and honor our students' commitment to nursing, we take ample opportunity to celebrate the occasions that mark students' progress through the program. We also host annual seminars and symposiums just for nursing students on such topics as unconventional jobs in nursing and transcultural nursing.
Commitment Ceremony
This event is held in honor of sophomore nursing students beginning the professional nursing sequence. Students will receive their official Viterbo Student Nurse name pins for use at their clinical placements. The commitment ceremony is unique to the Viterbo School of Nursing. Many schools have a pinning ceremony at completion of nursing school, but few have a meaningful ceremony such as this where students commit to the profession of nursing and the standards of practice as they go out and care for patients in the clinical setting.
Pinning Ceremony
This event is held in honor of our senior nursing students to commemorate the completion of the professional nursing sequence. In the ceremony gradautes are pinned with their Viterbo University School of Nursing pin by a person of their choice. This event not only celebrates the student's hard work and dedication, but also celebrates the efforts given by their family and friends. The Viterbo University School of Nursing pin can be worn proudly on their future nursing uniforms.

Pinning Ceremony
This event is held in honor of our graduating nursing students to commemorate the completion of their baccalaureate degree in nursing. In the ceremony gradautes are pinned with their Viterbo University School of Nursing pin by a person of their choice. This event not only celebrates the student's hard work and dedication, but also celebrates the efforts given by their family and friends. The Viterbo University School of Nursing pin can be worn proudly on their nursing uniforms.
Hooding Ceremony
Shortly before graduation the MSN faculty and students have an afternoon of celebration where the graduates receive their master’s hoods in a special informal ceremony before the are “hooded” officially at graduation.
