Sample Four-year Plan for Sociology Major (B.A.)

  • This is a suggested four-year schedule allowing for progressive learning; introductory classes are taken early in your academic career as a knowledge base for advanced classes.  Students should take core and bolded courses when indicated so prerequisites are met for later courses.  This schedule may need to be modified to fit students' interests and course availability.
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA and 128 hours to graduate (43 hours must be upper division - 300 or 400 level classes).
  • Bachelor of Arts requires 14 credits of foreign language. MATH 130, SOCL/PSYC 223 fulfills Quantitative Literacy in the Gen. Eds. MATH 130 and other 110+ MATH courses fulfill the MATH requirement of the Gen. Eds.
  • To find courses that fit Gen. Ed. requirements see the Registrar's webpage, undergraduate catalog, degree requirements: undergraduate catalog
*Some VUSM courses may be double-dipped to count as Mission Seminar courses and another General Education requirement.  Students should consider double-dipping up to 2 classes to meet requirements.
