Academic Integrity

Viterbo University School of Nursing Honor Code History

Viterbo University School of Nursing developed and implemented an Honor Code during the 2004-2005 academic year. The Honor Code asks students to commit to academic honesty and the five core values of the School of Nursing (Caring, Integrity, Commitment, Collegiality, and Wisdom), even in the face of adversity. The Honor Code was developed in congruence with the mission and values of Viterbo University.

The Honor Code is introduced at the Dean's address at the beginning of the academic year. All nursing students are asked to sign an original copy of the Honor Code, which is displayed in the School of Nursing. The Honor Code is placed in every nursing syllabus, discussed with students, and signed at the beginning of each course. Students have opportunities to ask questions and clarify what are acceptable verses unacceptable practices regarding academic integrity.

Sophomore, junior and senior student representatives, and nursing faculty are members of the Academic Integrity Committee. The purpose of the committee is to promote the creation of a culture of integrity within the school of nursing and support the policies on academic integrity within the university. The students provide information about the Honor Code and academic integrity to their nursing classes at specific times during the academic year.

The Honor Code is as Follows:
