RA Selection Process Overview and Timeline
The selection process has been designed to help you learn as much as possible about the RA position so that you can make an informed decision about becoming an RA. The process itself has several steps:
Step 1: Information Sessions
Early December through Mid-January
While not mandatory, these session provide an excellent orientation to the RA position and the selection process. There will be professional staff and current RAs there to answer all of your questions.
Step 2: Application Materials
Due January 25, 2012 at 4:00 PM
The application will ask you to respond to several questions pertaining to yourself and leadership style. You will also be asked to have three references fill out a reference form on your behalf.
Step 3: Group Interviews
February 2, 2013
On this Saturday morning, you will participate in a group interview with other RA candidates to explore more about the RA position. If you are unable to make this interview day please contact the office of residence life at 608-796-3116.
Step 4: Individual Interview
February 2, 2013
On this Saturday afternoon, you will be invited to participate in one individual interview with a Professional Staff Member and current Resident Assistants and Peer Advisor.
Decision letters (including placement for those offered an RA position) will be made available February 7, 2013 in your student mailbox in the Student Union. Those offered a position will be asked to accept or decline it by February 11, 2013 at 4:00 PM. New RA Spring Training dates are yet to be determined, February 18 - April 26, 2013. Fall RA Training starts August 11, 2013.
