Applying for Campus Housing
You will automatically receive information about the Housing and Dining Service Agreement if you indicate campus housing on your application for admission. Otherwise, you may complete the Agreement at http://www.viterbo.edu/housingcontract.
Cancellation and Deposit Refund
Applicants have until May 1 to cancel their housing and meal plan agreement and receive their $100 reservation deposit. To learn more on how to cancel your Agreement see our contract release Web page.
Single Room Requests
We currently have a large number of students requesting a small number of single or suite rooms. Therefore, we are unable to accommodate many of the requests for first semester. A few additional spaces may become available second semester depending on housing demands.
How Room Assignments are Made
The Office of Residence Life will make every attempt to honor the preferences listed on your housing agreement. However, this is not always possible. An outline of the room assignment procedure follows. Each spring, returning students (those currently residing in the residence halls) are given first preference for fall housing accommodations, which mostly fills the apartments and theme houses. Only a few select rooms are filled in Marian Hall or Bonaventure Hall by returning students. All of the remaining spaces are given to new students based upon their requests.
Marian Hall and Bonaventure Hall Assignments are Processed According to the Following
- Once a majority of new student agreements are received, the Office of Residence Life will determine which floors in Marian Hall and Bonaventure Hall will be male/female, based on numbers of requests and floor capacities.
- Date of receipt of the housing agreement by the Office of Residence Life will be considered in placing residents.
- Roommate requests from those who mutually wish to be paired together will be honored as much as possible.
- Residents will be paired based on a compatibility scale taken from the survey on the Housing and Meal Plan Agreement, (i.e., smoking preference, interests, lifestyle, etc.). After the match has been made, requests for floor preferences will be honored as closely as possible.
When Room Information is Sent
Housing assignments are sent in mid-July. Along with this information, you will receive the name, address, and phone number of your roommate and general check-in and Freshmen Orientation information.
2013–14 Returning Student Housing Selection Process
We’re excited to have you in campus housing next year. Returner room selection is the process through which continuing full-time students choose their living space for the next academic year. Any current student, is enrolled for the spring 2013 semester, and is intending to register for classes for the 2013–14 academic year can participate. For more information regarding the housing process view the Housing Selection Information Packet 2013-2014.
Whether you are a freshman or a senior, we invite you to live on campus next school year. Please keep in mind that all students must sign up for the process by Thursday, Feb. 23, 2013. Applications for the Theme House must be in by Feb. 11, 2013, 4 p.m.
START HERE TO LEARN HOW TO APPLY:
Applying for Theme House: The theme house is a duplex consisting of an apartment that houses two students and an apartment that houses four students. Student applicants should develop a proposal of a theme they want to live by and promote for the year they live in the house.
Reclaiming Your Current Space: Any on-campus resident who wishes to reclaim his/her current space on campus may do so once the Housing Contract is submitted.
Applying for Clare Apartments: Upperclassmen will be considered first when placing students into the new apartment complex. We will also be taking into consideration students’ grade point averages and past behavior on campus. Clare Apartment Selection will take place 7–9 p.m. on Feb. 27, 2013.
Applying for Non-Specific Housing: Each student who applies for the process but does not reclaim his/her current room, hall or building, or is not placed into Clare Apartments, will go through the housing selection process. Students are encouraged to determine their roommates for the 2013–14 year. The students in each roommate group will have their accumulated credit hours (earned by the end of fall semester 2012) averaged. These averages will determine their selection time. Times will be posted on March 11, 2013, outside the Office of Residence Life (Marian Hall). Student groups with the highest credit average are given higher priority. Groups of four will have priority over groups of three, which will have priority over groups of two, which will have priority over individuals. All roommate group applications must be submitted at the same time.
Selection Dates: There will be four dates on which selection of spaces occurs for those who’ve signed up for the process:
Theme Houses Applications: Due Feb. 11 by 4 p.m. (Housing and meal contracts and deposit due Feb. 21, 2013.)
Reclaiming: Apartment - Feb. 28, 9 a.m.–noon; Floor - Feb. 28, 1–4 p.m.; Building - March 1, all day
Room Selection: March 13 (four- and three-person groups), March 14 (two-person groups and individuals), and March 15 (ongoing housing sign-up)
All returning students must complete a Housing and Dining Service Agreement online and pay the $100 deposit to the Business Office before they will be considered for Housing. This must be completed no later than Feb. 21, 2013 by 4 p.m. Contracts or deposits received after Feb. 21, 2013 can still apply for housing but after the housing selection process is complete.
