Some Things to Know...
Laundry:
Viterbo University's laundry facilities' washers and dryers do not accept quarters; therefore all new students living in campus housing will be issued a Coin Appliance laundry card at the time of check-in. There is no charge for the card; however, you will need to deposit money onto the card in order to use the washers and dryers. The cost to wash a load of clothes is $1.00 and to dry is $0.75. There is a laundry card machine located in the Student Union (near the restrooms), where you can deposit money onto the card. Please keep the card for the duration of your on-campus housing tenure.
If you experience problems with your card, please report them to the Office of Residence Life (bring your card with you). If you lose your card, a replacement card will be issued to you for a $5.00 fee during regular office hours.
Mail:
The Student Union centrally houses all resident mailboxes. Each resident is assigned a personal, combination mailbox upon check-in. The Student Union mail center provides both U.S. mail and package mail services. When a student receives a package, a notice is placed in the mailbox. Mail is delivered and sorted each day except for Sundays, holidays, and designated break times. To receive mail, your address is as follows:
YOUR NAME
702 Franciscan Way
La Crosse, WI 54601
Residents who are gone during Christmas Break or summer can fill out a break address card at the mailroom window to have their mail forwarded. If they are permanently moving off the Viterbo University campus they need to fill out a forwarding address card at the mailroom.
Parking:
Motor vehicles of any kind parked in any university parking lot must be registered with an official Viterbo University parking permit. There are several university parking lots reserved for students living on campus. The university parking lots require a parking permit, which are only available in a limited quantity for purchase by upperclassmen students. Freshmen students are encouraged not to bring a vehicle due to limited parking; however, street parking is available. The city of La Crosse follows the “Alternate Side Parking” ordinance from Nov. 1 to April 1 on all city streets. Additional information about parking can be accessed at the Viterbo University Parking Policies web page.
Transportation:
Students are encouraged to use the city bus service, the La Crosse Municipal Transit Utility (MTU), which picks up students on campus at no charge. Students must show their Viterbo ID for free bus service around the entire La Crosse/Onalaska area. Additional information about the La Crosse Municipal Transit Utility (MTU) can be found on their website.
Storage:
Most apartments have storage facilities for residents during the academic year and summer. There is no storage for Marian Hall and Bonaventure Hall; therefore, we ask that residents not remove provided items from the room.
