Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I change my Major or Minor?
A. A change in major, minor, emphasis/concentration, or catalog is done by completing a form obtained in the Learning Center.

Q. I just got married and my last name has changed. How do I make this change on my student records?
Currently enrolled students may change their name by completing a form obtained from the Registrar's Office. You will also need to present a legal document proving the name change (e.g. marriage license, divorce decree)

Q. I would like to take a class for credit/no credit. What is the procedure? How does this affect my GPA
Some courses may be taken on a credit/no credit basis. This option must be enacted during the first 11 days of class. For more on the credit/no credit policy, see the current catalog. Credit/No Credit Policy.

Q. I want to audit a class. What is the procedure? What is the tuition for an audited class? How does an audited class affect my GPA?
You may audit a course by completing an audit form available from the Registrar’s Office at registration or during the first week of classes. The audit form requires the consent of the instructor of the course. Auditors are expected to attend classes, but they are not required to complete written assignments nor take examinations. If attendance is unsatisfactory, the student will be requested to withdraw from the class.

No credit is received and a grade of “AU” is entered on the records. For degree seeking students, the fees for audit courses are the same as for credit courses. Audited courses do not count toward degree requirements, nor do they affect a student's GPA. Students may not change from audit to credit after the first week of classes. Students may not change from credit to audit after the eighth week of classes. Audited courses may be repeated for credit in another term. The fees for non-degree students who are only auditing a course may be found on the tuition and fee schedule.

Q. I just finished a 6 week class. When will my grades be available?
Grades for the fall and spring semesters and summer session are due to the Office of the Registrar no later than noon on the Tuesday after finals week.  Faculty, however, may submit grades upon course completion.  To accommodate faculty submitting grades throughout the semester, grades will be posted to students' official records every Friday beginning mid-semester.  Students may view posted grades in VitNet.  Grade reports for students in the graduate programs in nursing, principalship, and servant leadership are produced in the same manner as the undergraduate program.

Grade reports for students taking courses in the graduate program in education are produced bi-weekly after submission by the instructors to the off-campus offices. Students should allow 6 weeks for the processing of these grades.

Q. I graduated last month and haven’t received my diploma yet. When will I get it?
Diplomas are mailed after grades are recorded, final requirement checks are made, and alumni cards are available, approximately 6-8 weeks after the end of the semester. Diplomas are mailed to the address you indicated on your application for degree form. If you would like your diploma mailed to a different address, please contact our office.
