Survival of the Fittest
Program kicks off April 2nd!
Survival of the Fittest is a 6 week long fitness
challenge designed to promote over health and wellness. This program will help
engage the participant in being aware of their diet, and other aspects of
health such as cardiovascular fitness, and resistance training. This program is
also a way to get people trying new activities with a little bit of an
incentive, to win the grand prize
Registration
guidelines
- Registration is at the Mathy Center from desk. Let the rec sports staff know that you are interested in participating in the Survival of the Fittest wellness program.
- Registration opens on March 19th.
- The last day to register for the wellness program is April 5th.
- Registration must be paid before participating in the program and can be paid when registering ($5 per person).
- Additional information can be found on the website.
System
- At the beginning of the program you will have an initial fitness assessment performed.
- Points will be rewarded for completing weekly requirements
- Food journals, strength training workouts, and cardio tracking will be collected on Tuesdays at Noon to be scored.
- There will be folders in the fitness center cabinet with each participants name on them.
- Please do not take materials for other participants folders
- Extra points can be earned throughout the program
- At the beginning of the program a list will be given to participants of ways to earn extra points and how they can submit them for points.
- As these items are submitted they will be scored and recorded.
- The last week of the program additional fitness assessments will be offered to check.
Participant
Requirements:
- At the end of the week each team must submit the required materials to earn points.
- Points will be given depending on the activities completed.
- Food journals, strength training workouts, and cardio tracking will be collected on Tuesdays at Noon to be scored.
- If required materials are not turned in by Tuesday at Noon participants will be docked 5 points for every day they are late.
- Prizes will be awarded for the top three finishers.
- Top prize is a gift certificate for Metropolitan Salon & Day Spa.
Point
Break Down
- Weekly points:
- Submit weekly food journals for points
- Participants are to submit a food journal for at least one day of the week for 25 points.
- For each additional day will be worth 10 points
- Cardiovascular Workouts
- For every 30 minutes of cardio 30 points will be given out.
- Points will only be rewarded for up to 3 hours of cardio.
- Strength and conditioning workouts
- The workouts will be provided for the participants
- 30 points will be rewarded for completing 1 strength training workout.
- 60 points will be rewarded for completing 2 strength training workouts.
- 90 points will be rewarded for completing 3 strength training workouts.
- Group fitness classes
- Each participant will be given a group fitness punch card.
- For each different group fitness class attended the participant will receive 30 points. For each additional time they attend a group fitness class 15 points will be rewarded.
- If the whole punch card is filled up (meaning each group fitness class offered at the Mathy Center has been attended) 150 extra points will be rewarded.
- If no one is able to complete the punch card 150 points will be rewarded to the participant who attended the most different group fitness classes
- Ways
to earn extra points. Points to be determined. (Photos will need to be taken)
- Participate
in a run/ walk
- Go
hiking and provide a picture from hike Before and after fitness assessment
- Attend
a Rec Sports Special event.
- Go for a bike
ride
- Try
a new healthy recipe and submit it
- Participate
in Try it Tuesdays
- Swimming
