Commit to be Fit

 

* The challenge returns October 22, 2012!  

 Program Goal: To stimulate the energetic and fun loving exerciser in everyone. It will allow partner participants to experience new exercises and activities while participating in a friendly competition.

General Information

  • Six week fitness challenge starting October 22nd 
  • Open to all students, employees, alumni members, and Plus Ones
  • Grab a friend - need to have a partner to participate
  • $10 fee per team
  • Register at the Mathy Center front desk
  • Chance to win gift certificates the Metropolitan Day Spa

Registration Guidelines  

  • Registration is at the Mathy Center front desk. Let them know you are interested in the Commit to be Fit Wellness Program. 
  •  The last day to register is October 26th 
  • Be ready to choose a team name. 
  • Registration fees must be paid before participation and can be paid when registering ($10 per team).

Requirements  

  • Team Requirements: 
    • Each team will select a difficulty level they wish to undertake for the upcoming week.
      • Each level varies with requirements so choose carefully. 
       
    • At the end of the week each team must submit the required materials to earn points. 
      • The team log sheets will be kept in the Mathy center and to be completed by noon on Tuesdays 
    • At the end of the program the team with the most points will win the Grand Prize 
  • Requirements: Each week the teams must...
    • Participate in at least one group fitness class together.
    • Complete the strength and conditioning program at least once. 
    • Preform additional workouts. (Intramurals, biking, running, hiking, swimming, etc.)

 Point System  

  • Points will be awarded upon completion of the requirements. 
  • At the end of the week each team must submit the required materials no later than Noon Tuesdays in order to receive their points and select the next week’s difficulty level.
         *Required materials can be submitted any time before the deadline* 
    • If materials submitted late a deduction of 10 points every half-hour will be taken. 
    • For the materials that have been logged in the folder there can be no more additions after noon on Tuesday. Later entries will not be scored. 
    • If no submission is received Tuesday then no points will be awarded. Additionally, you will then need to contact a program administrator to select the next week’s requirements. This may be difficult as the administrators may be busy. 
     
  • Additional points can be earned a couple ways 
    • Fun Fact Quizzes – each week a fun fact quiz will be administered at the end of the week. The quizzes should be submitted with the other required materials. The quizzes are optional and cannot hurt your point total. These quizzes will be done via E-mail 
    • Team Tough Fitness Challenge – near the middle and the end of the program an optional team fitness challenge will be held. If your team decides to attempt the challenge additional points will be earned. This challenge is optional and cannot hurt your point total. More information will be sent out later in the program 
     
  •  The more you do with your partner the more points you will receive

Point Breakdown  

Possible weekly Points  

  • Group Fitness (275 possible points) 
    • At least one group fitness class must be attended to together (125 points) 
    • In order to receive the extra points for group fitness each team must attend the one initial group fitness class together. 
    • Each additional group fitness class attended together is worth 75 points (150 possible extra points) 
    • Each additional class attended without partner is work 25 points ( 50 possible extra points) 
    • There is a max of 3 group fitness class that can be attended for points.
     
  • Strength and Conditioning Workouts (possible points based on level of difficulty selected) 
    • Each week teams must select a difficulty level and will be assigned the workouts according to their difficulty level. 
    • Easy must perform the training program at least 1 time throughout the week. 
    • Medium must perform the training program a minimum of 2 times throughout the week. 
    • Hard must perform the training program a minimum of 3 times throughout the week
     
  • Activity of your choice (195 possible points) 
    • 65 points will be awarded for each hour of extra activities completed together( 195 points total) 
    • Teams must complete at least 30 min of extra activities together in order to receive points for doing activities alone. 
    • 30 points will be awarded for every 30 minutes of activities completed together. 
    • 15 points for every half hour of activities completed alone. 
    • Up to 3 hours of extra activities will be awarded for pointes
     
  • Extra points  
    • Fun Fact quizzes (225 possible points throughout program) 
      • Each quiz will be worth 45 points. 
      • There will be a total of 5 quizzes meaning 225 extra points can be earned. 
      • The quizzes and answers will be done via e-mail.
       
    • Team Tough Fitness Challenges (to be determined)  
      • Points will be awarded to all team who choose to participate. 
      • The winners or the challenges will receive extra points.
        *Note: the more you do with your partner the more points you will receive.  

Required Materials  

  • Each team needs to have the required materials submitted by noon on Tuesday of that next week to earn points.
    *Required materials can be submitted any time before the deadline* 
  • Files to be submitted each Tuesday include: 
  • Time Sheets 
    • Be prepared to mark the difficulty level you wish to attempt for the next week as there will be a spot on the Time Sheets to indicate your selection. 
    •  New strength workouts and quizzes will be sent out by 3:00 p.m. on Tuesdays for the program. 
     
  •  In order to receive full credit all sections of the Time Sheets must be fully completed. This includes all descriptions, dates, and signatures.
