Athletic Training
*If the Recreational Sports Department determines that athletic training services are required, the sport club will need to secure and compensate certified athletic trainer(s) for their events.
Sport clubs engage in a wide variety of activities including non-contact and contact related sports. Athletic training services may be required for some or all of a particular sport club's events and activities to ensure the safety of participants and provide for an immediate and appropriate response to personal injuries.
Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) are allied medical professionals, recognized by the American Medical Association, whose work focuses on the prevention, recognition, evaluation, emergency care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. It is the responsibility of an ATC to insure an athletes safe return to participation after an injury by facilitating comprehensive care.
Viterbo University Department of Athletics has an established service relationship with the athletic trainers at Gundersen Lutheran. When needed, sport clubs shall obtain a contract to utilize the training services of Gundersen Lutheran. Each of Gundersen Lutherans ATCs is Certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification and licensed to practice in the State of Wisconsin.
