Nutrition Week

March 19-24, 2018

March is National Nutrition Month and this year’s theme is Go Further With Food. Rec Sports dedicates March 19-24 to promoting nutrition and focusing on healthy eating and living. The emphasis this year is taking that extra step to becoming healthier, whether that means starting the day off with a healthy breakfast, properly fueling up before a workout, or meal prepping for the week. The foods chosen will make a big difference throughout the day and week.

All Week: Rate Your Plate
  • Fill out the PDF iconRate Your Plate and the Wellness Worksheet with the corresponding reflection survey. 1 entry per sheet.
  • Each worksheet and survey completed by Friday at 12 p.m. will receive a Rec Sports Grocery Tote.
  • Each survey completed will give you additional entry into our raffle drawing!
    • 1st Drawing: $10 gift card to grocery store of your choice with lunch bag
    • 2nd Drawing: $5 gift card to grocery store of your choice with lunch bag
    • 3rd Drawing: Lunch bag
Monday, March 19: Grab n' Go Breakfast

7 - 9 a.m. | Mathy Center Lobby

Start your week off right by stopping by for a grab n' go breakfast of oatmeal and fresh fruit. Learn about healthy breakfast items and the importance of starting your day off with a healthy breakfast.

Tuesday, March 20: Rethink Your Drink

Keep your eye out on Facebook and Instagram to learn about what is in popular drinks, including Gatorade, Red Bull, soda, etc. Be aware about what you are putting into your bodies.

Wednesday, March 21: How to eat right on a budget

11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. | Caf

Stop by the Caf to learn about ways to make good food decisions while on a budget. There will be an interactive activity for a chance to win a $15 gift card to a grocery store of his/her choice.

Thursday, March 22: DIY Trail Mix Bar

6:30 - 7:30 p.m. | Mathy Center Second Floor Lobby

Stop by to make your own trail mix! Learn about the importance of eating before or after working out. Also learn about which foods are good prior to working out and post work out.

Friday, March 23: Meal Prep Friday!

Check out the healthy recipes you can use when meal prepping. Each recipe makes one-week worth of food. Email to tell us which recipe you made and how it turned out. We would love to hear your feedback!

Saturday, March 24: Total Body Workout Class

3 p.m. | Mathy Center

Join us for a challenging, but fun workout class! After the workout class, you are more than welcome to stay for smoothies and energy bites as a delicious post-workout snack! Everyone who comes to the class will be entered into a raffle drawing to with a Smoothie Recipe Book. Hope to see you all there!
