A week focused on taking care of oneself in all aspects of health and wellbeing. 

Week Long Activities

Movement Challenge

Come to the Rec for Healthy Living Week daily challenges! Complete the challenge to enter a raffle to win a hammcok and some Viterbo Rec merch (one entry per day)! There are also bonus challenges to get out and participate in the Healthy Living Week events! 

Monday: Meditate for 15 minutes

  • Bonus: attend self defense (5pm in the MPR)

Tuesday: Run the track and share your time

  • Bonus: check out the Outdoor Rx event (1-3pm in Assisi Courtyard)

Wednesday: Share an exercise and try a new one

  • Bonus: come pet some dogs at Pause for Paws (12-1pm in Marian Courtyard)

Thursday: Share your favorite fruit or vegetable

  • Bonus: check out the Farmer's Market (11am-2pm in Assisi Courtyard)

Friday: Stretch for 10 minutes

  • Bonus: take a break to practice self care this weekend

Library Opportunities

  • Calming Corner: Located outside of M110. It is a place where someone can just kick back and relax for a few minutes. Visit this space to enjoy a comfy chair, coloring books, markers, Play-doh, some crafty things,  and a basket of candy.
  • Books and Resources: On display will be a number of "feel-good," self-help, health and wellness-type books. The display will be near the comfy corner. Browse the selection and checkout what may be of interest to you!

Monday, September 25 Activities
  • QPR Training:  QPR stands for question, persuade, and respond. This training focuses suicide awareness and prevention through a modality to aid in identification and response. Registration is recommended.

  • Grief and Loss Group for Students: This group is open to all students. Grief and loss is experienced for a variety of reasons. Students may attend sessions as they are able and interested. This is the first of a six week offering provided by Counseling Services.

  • Healthy Living Week Kick Off! Learn more about the activities of the week, enjoy a sweet treat, meet a therapy dog, and get your flu shot!

  • Self-Defense: Self-defense is a small group program providing instruction on how to increase awareness while promoting personal safety. The instructors come from Ironworks Driftless Martial Arts.

  • Disc Golf: Join Recreation at Pettibone for a fun evening of disc golf. Discs will be available for use.

  • Smoothies in the Caf: Try a variety of flavorful combinations to create tasty and nutrition smoothies during dinner in the Caf.

  • Lunitas: Good Practices in Intercultural Mental Health
    Learn about bilingual mental health therapy. Hear from Latina therapists about how they work with Latina adolescents to navigate all the acculturation differences between them and their social circles.

  • Suicide Prevention Programming: Counseling Services will be providing suicide prevention to the students living on campus.

Tuesday, September 26 Activities
  • Hummus Station in the Caf: Learn about chickpeas and creativity with hummus. Try out variations of hummus with multiple dipping options.

  • Fiber Fun: Gathering by the fireplace in the library where anyone can bring knitting, needlework, or other portable crafty projects to work on and just chat for an hour. Students, faculty and staff are welcome!

  • Outdoor Rx: Bike Program, Hammocks, Urban Hiking, and more!  Learn about outdoor programs, services, and equipment available on campus. Check out urban hiking with unique paths through the community ranging from one mile to five miles.

  • Sound Bowl Meditation: Learn about and participate in a sound healing modality where different tones from various sized bowls provide frequencies to align with frequencies within the body. Experience it yourself through a guided meditation by a trained provider, Amy Olson. Participation is limited to 15 individuals and is open to both student and employees (free of charge).

  • Flu Clinic: Flu shots are available! Students and employees are encouraged to get their flu shots during Healthy Living Week. Individuals are encouraged complete the online flu shot form ahead of obtaining their flu shot. Cost for students and employees TBA.

Thursday, September 28 Activities
  • Fall Festival: Join Dining Services for their annual fall festival. Dining Services will provide Harvest-like foods (squashes, gourdes, etc.).  Activities and games will be provided as well. The festival is a part of the meal plan. All are invited, however not free of charge.

  • Farmer's Market: Join Student Sustainability Club and vendors from the community for fresh produce, baked goods, crafts, and more! This program will coincides with the fall festival.

  • Three Sisters Story: Learn about the Indigenous, Onieda, story of the three sisters and enjoy fry bread and corn squash soup.

  • Trivia Night: Test your trivia skills at the regularly held, trivia night on campus. Theme for the week is MARVEL.
