"Welcome Back, Students" Week Proclaimed
La Crosse Mayor John Medinger has officially proclaimed Aug. 30 to Sept. 5 as “Welcome Back Students Week.” The proclamation celebrates the value of our college and university students as resources for our community and “an integral part of our quality of life in the La Crosse area.” It states further: “...our college and university students represent the hopes and dreams of parents, friends, families and this community for a future where each student...will find a place as a productive and involved citizen supporting and maintaining our nation’s precious values of freedom and equality...”
The mayor calls upon the people, businesses, and organizations of the La Crosse area to extend a warm welcome to all of our newly arrived students. May you have a wonderful year!
Connect Club News
The Connect Club's Thursday evening coffeehouse is back in operation. Each Thursday evening from 8-10 p.m., students from the Connect Program will brew cappuccino and tea, mix iced coffees, and sell other beverages and treats in the Union.
Applications for students interested in participating in the Connect Program are now available for first semester. Interested students may pick up an application at the Student Development Center or call Anne Ellefson at ext. 3807. Scheduled activities for this fall include campus presentations, prevention sessions with youth in the community, the coffeehouse, and informational campus-wide media campaigns. The application deadline for fall training is Sept. 17.
International Students Arrive
Viterbo is happy to welcome four new international students to the campus: Shawn Ashman from Jamaica, Chikako Kodama and Mikiko Morita from Japan, and Takawira Kuvaoga from Zimbabwe. Please extend a warm greeting as you encounter these students.
Viterbo Court officially opened Tuesday with the unveiling of the 24-foot by 24-foot college seal located between the entrances of Murphy Center and the Student Activity Center. The seal is part of a campus beautification project which included the creation of the courtyard, featuring green space, flowers, benches, a brick walkway, and old-style street lamps.
