Recent news regarding La Crosse medical health science consortium
Construction at 13th, Pine, 14th and Oakland Streets is undergoing rapid changes. The asphalt is torn up, hoarding and chain link fencing surround the property and Market and Johnson’s trailer has moved on location. Demolition began June 17 and construction began in mid-July.

Gertrude Salzer Gordan, 92, a local philanthropist, has donated $250,000 to the Health Science Center Campaign. A note accompanying her gift conveyed her message, “It is a privilege to be a part of this worthwhile endeavor to help build a healthy future for this area…I challenge everyone to give of their time, talent, and treasure to see the Health Science Center to completion.”

“We are sincerely delighted at the news of Mrs. Gordon’s gift and appreciate her generous support to carry out our educational, research and community missions from which all will benefit,” said Judith Kuipers, president of the Consortium and Chancellor of UW-La Crosse.

Information on the Health Science Center project and campaign is available on the Web: http://www.uwlax.edu/SAH/LMHSC/skycam.html

The five-partner Consortium serves 23 counties in Western Wisconsin, Southeastern Minnesota and Northeastern Iowa.

Faculty, staff, administration photo shoots set
It’s time once again for all staff, faculty and administrative personnel to put on their Sunday best and get their pictures taken for the Public Relations and Marketing files.

Last year’s turnout was pretty good, but the goal this year is to have everyone’s photo on file. These photos are used in college publications, in the media and for internal newsletters. As an added bonus, anyone wishing to have a photo for themselves, can request that an extra print be made ... at no charge.

The photo shoots will be done during in-service week, so most of you should be on campus. Again, we are going for 100 percent participation, and you can help by marking these times on your calendar:

• New staff photo shoot: This will take place at noon on Friday, Aug. 21, in MC 230.
• Faculty, staff, administration photo shoot: This will take place at 11 a.m. on Tues., Aug. 25, in BNC 121.
